org.eclipse.gef 0.0.0 required for installing Android Development Tools on Eclipse 3.5.1

Today I wanted to try the Android SDK on my Ubuntu Karmic Koala, so I followed the instructions in the following URL.

http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html

I thought that an IDE would be useful so I installed Eclipse 3.5.1 and tried to install the Android Development Tools, or ADT. However, an error "org.eclipse.gef 0.0.0 required" (or something like that) appeared.

After googling for a while, I found a URL for the GEF SDK, which is Eclipse's Graphic Editing Framework, as the following URL.

http://download.eclipse.org/tools/gef/updates/releases/

So I added this update into Eclipse by

  1. Go to the menu 'Help',
  2. Choose 'Install New Software',
  3. Place the GEF SDK updates URL into the box after 'Work with:',
  4. Choose the right version of updates in the box below (for me, GEF SDK 3.5.1),
  5. Click 'Next',
  6. After Eclipse calculates all the dependencies, just click 'Finish' and let it install the plugin.

After installing GEF SDK, return to installation of ADT. You should be able to install it now.

Its really awesome post.To "copy" a face, they need only a 3D scanner to determine the locations of an individual's 17 facial points. After that, they are then driven into position using a laptop and 56 motor control boards. In addition, the researchers also mention that the shifting, robot can even display an individual's hair style and skin color if a photo of their face is projected onto the 3D mask.

Excellent post. I was checking constantly this weblog
and I'm impressed! Extremely useful information specifically
the closing section :) I deal with such information much.
I used to be seeking this certain information for a very lengthy
time. Thank you and best of luck.

I'm trying to install Android DDMS first since it won't let me install development kit before this one it seems like.

However, when it comes to accepting the license agreement, I accept it, scroll all the way down, and the next or finish buttons stay disabled.

Seriously, Is this what Software development has come to... Bugs like this are unbelievable.

An outstanding share! I've just forwarded this onto a
friend who has been conducting a little homework on this.
And he actually ordered me breakfast simply because I stumbled upon it for him...
lol. So let me reword this.... Thank YOU for the
meal!! But yeah, thanx for spending the time to talk about this matter here on your web site.

I am really enjoying the theme/design of your
site. Do you ever run into any browser compatibility issues?
A small number of my blog readers have complained about my site not operating correctly in Explorer but
looks great in Firefox. Do you have any advice to help
fix this problem?

Got the Same Issue. Just Press the Back Button twice. and you can see the DDMS is not selected. so select them, Finish button will show up.

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew
of any widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.

I've been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and
was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like
this. Please let me know if you run into anything.
I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.

Thanks for this post, it really helped me moving through the problem. I encountered some difficulties while installing the ADT plugin for Helios under Windows 7 64-bit. I reached this page from here:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3935956/how-to-install-the-android-a…
and installed the 3.6 version. Now to install ADT Helios asks me another requirement: org.eclipse.wst.sse.core 0.0.0
Which is the WST Server, subproject of the Web Tools Platform (WTP):
http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/wst/api/overview-summary.html
It can be obtained by adding this link to the remote resources under the preferences:
http://download.eclipse.org/releases/helios/
After that, I've been able to install the ADT plugin.
